The book was written by Slovak writer Anton Lauček. It was donated by o.z. A smile for others.

The title of the book about the prominent Slovak missionary Vendelín Javorek, who suffered in Soviet concentration camps for ten years, is an allusion to Solzhenitsyn's prose One Day by Ivan Denisovič. The author offers the reader five days in the life of a priest, lived in different places: Ružomberok, Rome, Moscow, gulag, Žilina. We meet him as a young novice, as the rector of the papal college Russicum, a missionary investigated and tortured by the Soviet KGB, a prisoner in a Siberian gulag and, after his release, a Jesuit who was not allowed by the state to exercise public priestly activity. But they could not forbid him what Father Vendelín dedicated his life to: showing mercy...
